Mankind is a Beautiful Thing! #HurricaneSzn

We’re glad to report we at Grata Software are all safe & sound after the hurricane! Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the hurricanes. If there is anything we can do to help please let us know!

The most important thing we can do after the hurricane, is to take care of those around us. As well as, help each other rebuild, put lives back together, or even just get a clean shower & clothes. As Floridians, Texans, and the rest of our nation bands together to help those affected, sadly, the economy doesn’t stop.

At times like these a lot of successful business owners realize, their infrastructure is not as strong as they thought. In Florida, there are currently 4.9 million homes and businesses without power, in Houston, there are roughly between $2.7 and $4.9 billion in damage to vehicles alone. Florida & Houston will be recovering from the hurricane for an extremely long time. Sadly, when natural disasters hit one area, the rest of the nation and world continues to operate business as normal. The economy continues to roll along, software platforms are still used daily, purchases are made, and opportunities are lost. Many people understand that shops have to close and the work will stall. However, it will be vastly detrimental, in this day and age, when a business’s technology is offline.

What if, for the next natural disaster, you didn’t have to worry about the time your systems would be offline? What would that allow you the business owner to do? You would be able to focus on your family’s safety and helping those around you. You will still be eager to get back to the office, as all of us business owners are. But you would be able to take a breath, knowing that everything will be ok. Your clients will continue to be happy with the services you offer. Meanwhile, your company hasn’t opened the doors in days. Moving your software and products to cloud services, like AWS or Microsoft Azure, allow your systems to continually operate, while there are 4.9 million homes & businesses around you without power.

Cloud services have perks that I could rave on for days about. However, right now the only thing with the cloud that matters is that it keeps your company alive and functioning. We buy all kinds of insurnce, why wouldn’t you leverage cloud servers as “insurance” for your technology & company.

Most of all, in times of need like these it’s amazing to see the beauty in mankind, neighbors helping neighbors, strangers helping strangers to rebuild all that was lost. It sometimes takes disasters to reminds us that we are all the same. Color, economic-status, education, political views, none of that matters in these times, all were and will continue to be affected by these storms. Let’s continue to show our inner-beauty & help each other get back on their feet. Stand together, stand proudly knowing that tomorrow will be a better day and one step closer back to normal.
