Forrester: Boosting Innovation With Public Cloud

In July 2018, AWS commissioned Forrester Consulting to explore how company cultures shifted once they adopted public cloud. 412 IT decision makers that were directly responsible for cloud strategy and investments were surveyed for their study. The research gained led to further insight into how public cloud is being utilized in businesses across North America, Europe and APAC.

Here are some key takeaways from the report:

  • 75% of respondents say that public cloud platforms have promoted cultural change at their company
  • Over 50% say that cultural changes have positively impacted several parts of their business
  • 1 in every 5 businesses say the changes have been felt in all roles and departments
  • 77% of businesses say their ability to innovate increased once they adopted public cloud. New Opportunities were revealed which allowed them to rethink business processes and applications.

Here are some key points as to how public cloud is transforming business:

  • 57% of organizations have been using cloud for more than 5 years
  • 84% have been using cloud for more than three years
  • One-third of organizations are using public cloud for software development/testing, re-hosting, and extending existing apps
  • 79% of businesses say the cloud is enabling fundamental shifts to their business models
  • 89% say cloud enables business model changes in part or all of their business and 34% say cloud helps them significantly transform
